Script for scene 2

Harry: Ollie i'm really scared
Ollie: It's ok, it's only paranormal activity, like I said just remember it isn't real
Harry: hmm ok, when are the others getting here?
Ollie: like now-ish

*knock on the door*

ollie: what did i say eh?

*dan, liam and helen enter*

Harry: aright guys
Dan: alright mate
Helen: heya
Liam: what we watching then?
Ollie: paranormal activity, shall we watch one or two?
Harry: which is less scary?

*everyone laughs*

Ollie: right we are watching number one then...

*ollie puts in dvd*-background chatter

Harry: *whispering* ollie, ollie?
Ollie: harry shush its fine just watch it

*silence while watching film, they all fall asleep, harry hears his name being whispered and awaken and sees them in the television screen and yells, everyone awakens*

Liam: what happened?
Harry: we, we were in the, we were in the the the...

*ollie looks at him and shakes his head*

Harry:...nothing, sorry guys
Ollie: anyone want a drink?

*they here a bang and they all look up*

Harry: what was that?
Ollie: something probably just fell
Harry: oh, ok

*scratching*

Liam: do you have a cat?
Ollie: no? why?
Harry: ok guys this isn't funny
Dan: harry we're not winding you up we are all here how is it us?
Harry: helen isn't...

*helen is no where to be seen*

Liam: ok helen this isn't funny
Harry: no helen it really isn't

*they here more noises*

Ollie: everyone calm down, if she thinks this is funny then lets play her own game.
Harry: what do you mean?
Dan: oooh i'm liking this idea

*they hear a noise out the back*

Ollie: come on lets go hide before she hears us, then we'll jump out and see how she like it!

*they all go off upstairs- the room is empty and the camera is facing the TV, helen walks in, no look of emotion on her face and she is very pale, she sits on the sofa staring into the TV and the TV makes screechy noises*

Casting

When you cast a film you need to think about what sort of characters you need and why, for my main characters I have Harry Tully and Ollie Biggin because they're best friends and in the movie they need to be best friends, also Harry is a drama student so therefore when it comes to needing to act scared he'll be able to show that really well.

As for their other friends in the play i've chosen Helen Christie, she is a very girly girl and therefore she'll be able to be all screechy and because she is the one going missing she's small and therefore easy to misplaced and easy to get dragged away.
For my other actor I have chosen Dan William and Liam Jordan, they are also best friends. Liam is quite a beefy boy and so can be the father figure of the group and make sure every is staying calm and Dan is quite childish so he can be making the situation worse and winding everyone up.

Target audience and certification

I can't really certify my first 3 minutes of my film properly because its only 3 minutes and nothing happens so based on just the first bit it would only be a PG or maybe a 12, however my target audience is age 15 and upwards because its a horror film and if it was an actual movie i'd want to be able to give it the scare-factor.

SCENE ONE EXTENSION

I added a video effect onto the last clip and cropped it to make it more dramatic, I also took away the slow motion because it made his voice sound really weird.

AUDIENCE

I was looking into my audience and was thinking about my target audience, I think when you do horror films you automatically aim them at a younger audience because they're the age that usually go for horror movies so I took an interest in asking older aged women what they would say would be in a horror movie...

Harry: Ollie, Ollie

Ollie: yeah?

Harry: i'm really worried about this film night

Ollie: why?

Harry: what are we watching?

Olie: i don't know yet

Harry: well who's even going?

Ollie: just the usual lot

Harry: oh right, whats the film even about?

Ollie: look i've told you i don't know what we're watching yet but you just have to remember, horror film are not real...

Harry: ...but what if they are?

   Get a scary idea for the movie. But make it good so they wont suspect it coming. And when it comes, make it as scary as it can be. It could be more frightening if you HEAR noises, rather than SEE the ghost or monster etc.

   Turn your idea into a plot, or story. A great way to get an idea is to brainstorm ideas, then choose one and write the story. Always have a story before filming, or else it might turn out cheesy.

   Find a place to film the movie. Good ideas are in the woods (especially at night), cabins, wooden buildings, abandoned houses, etc. Make sure that you have permission to film at the location before you start.

   Find a cast who's willing to star in your thriller. They don't necessarily need acting experience, but that depends on the complexity of your movie. Make sure they are willing and able to take orders from the director.

   Add scary and scratchy, eerily atmospheric music for suspense. Add scary, screechy music for when something surprising happens.

   Have a scary killer/monster/whatever. For some reason killers that don't talk are scarier than ones who do. Make sure their motive is simple (revenge/insanity is good)

   Make something completely ordinary the center of the drama (paper bag, telephone, toilet, doorbell, TV, videotape). If you do it well, it will be scary!

   Have a plot twist (at the end or middle end).

   Add good effects (if the blood looks like ketchup you're not going to scare anyone so use hot sauce or tomato soup instead. It looks more realistic) If you choose to go with effects...that is. Its proven that a sudden moment of suspense without graphic bloody violence is more scary because the watcher's imagination finds the scariest possible outcome that they personally can imagine... much scarier than even a realistic gore fest... think De Niro's Hide and Seek... Scary because of the suspense, not because of the blood, or the realism of said blood.

    Make sure you use good effects. if you want to make magic balls, fire, explosion etc. use effects lab pro! An alternative, which is more expensive, but can give much more professional results is called Adobe After Effects (it has motion tracking, color correction etc., see a site called VIDEO COPILOT).
    • If its murder in your film,make it realistic by cutting out newspaper articles and terms.(Example:Cut out photos and articles of Missing people,deceased people, etc. And Use your Psycho as the plot of those Situations.)[p.s.Don't Use Real Names of suspects and or Deceased]

    After all of the filming is complete, start moving it to the computer. Editing it is often fun, but frustrating, seeing as it could be erased with one click.

    About half way into editing, set a release date. Put up posters around school or the neighborhood. Try not to invite general public though, just people you know.

THE ENDING!!

I decided to change my story line a little to make the ending better.

Instead of someone going missing then noises start happening the noises are going to happen first, then everyone starts freaking out and after a while someone gets grabbed and they go missing and then it ends...

THE GUARDIAN NOTES

Plot developed...

A group of friends are planning to have a movie night but Harry (main character) is freaking out cause he hates scary movies and ollie is trying to re-assure him. They go to the movie night and everyone is sat around watching the movie and after the first scary occurance they all fall asleep and when harry awakens he sees all of them in the tv screen so he wakes the rest up but by then the screen is normal again so they dont beleive him, one of the friends go missing and then everyone starts to freak out, other things occur such as scratching at doors, thumping of stairs and knocking at windows etc.


An ending is yet to be decided!!
